NEET Counselling Process for MBBS/BDS admissions




‘What after NEET’ aspect which confuses aspirants and parents the most related to the various counselling processes which begin after the result declarations. Numerous counselling authorities and application forms are bound to remind one of the pre-NEET admission scenario of medical education. Even when one understands the type of counselling’s and is aware of the number of seats, the different eligibility criteria come across as tough to comprehend. Let’s bring NEET MBBS/BDS admission process out of its ambiguities and clarify on ‘what after NEET’ in greater detail.

he Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and various state counselling authorities will conduct the counselling of NEET 2018 after the declaration of the NEET 2018 result. The result of NEET 2018 held on May 6, will be declared by June 5, 2018. Candidates will need to register separately with different counselling authorities for participating in the NEET 2018 counselling process.

Types of MBBS/BDS Seats available for candidates who qualify NEET 2018

*Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) candidates cannot apply for AIQ counselling since J&K has opted out of the 15% AIQ scheme since its inception.

 

15 percent All India Quota Merit List of NEET 2018

CBSE will prepare the merit list for 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ) admissions. Candidates who qualify NEET 2018 by scoring equal to or more marks equivalent to the cutoff of NEET 2018 (except candidates from Jammu and Kashmir) will be eligible for All India Quota admissions.

 

The DGHS, on behalf of the MCC, will conduct the counselling for admission to 15% AIQ seats in Government medical and dental colleges of India. All Government medical/dental colleges in India (except those in the state of Jammu & Kashmir) have surrendered 15% of their total MBBS/BDS seats for AIQ on which all candidates who qualify NEET 2018 are eligible to participate. AIQ counselling of NEET 2018 will be conducted in two rounds in online mode. The first round of AIQ counselling of NEET will be conducted from June 12 to June 24, 2018, and second AIQ counselling round will be conducted between July 6 to July 22, 2018.

 

From this year on, the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have joined other states in the provision of 15% of their MBBS/BDS seats of government medical/dental colleges through AIQ counselling conducted by MCC. All candidates (except those belonging to J&K, unless they filled the declaration form which appears at the time of filling NEET application form) who will qualify NEET 2018 by scoring minimum required percentile, will be eligible for AIQ admissions.
