DU LLB Entrance Exam 2018 Summary





Delhi University conducts DU LLB Entrance Exam in order to shortlist aspirants for admission in LLB programmes offered by it. Programmes offered at Delhi University’s Faculty of Law are LLB, LLM (2 years) and LLM (3 years). To offer admission to aspirants in LLM course offered by the varsity, candidates need to appear for DU LLM entrance exam.

Exam dates for DU LLB entrance exam 2018 have not been declared yet. However, last year DU LLB exam was conducted on July 2, 2017 (from 4 pm to 6 pm) and DU LLM exam was held on July 2 (from 8 am to 10 am). Delhi University revised DU LLB exam's test pattern in 2017. Delhi University (DU) Colleges that accept DU LLB entrance exam scores are:

• Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law
• Law Centre-I, Faculty of Law
• Law Centre-II, Faculty of Law

Last year, The Delhi High Court heard the plea against reduction of seats in DU LLB course offered by Delhi University. 

DU LLB Entrance Exam 2018 Eligibility

Aspirants need to meet DU LLB entrance exam 2018 eligibility criteria as mentioned by Faculty of Law, Delhi University. Aspirants are informed that they meet the eligibility criteria for DU LLB entrance exam 2018 only if they have completed their graduation from a recognised Indian University/Foreign University/Equivalent institution from any stream. Also, candidates in the final year of their graduation/postgraduation are eligible to apply for DU LLB entrance exam. However, such aspirants will be offered admission on a provisional basis (which will be subject to their clearing their degree examinations).

Apart from the above, additional eligibility criteria that aspirants need to fulfill in order to secure admission in DU LLB programme is as mentioned below:

For General Category Candidates: Such aspirants should possess a graduation/post-graduation degree from Delhi University or any other recognised Indian/foreign university with atleast 50% aggregate marks.

For OBC Category Candidates: Such aspirants should possess a graduation/post-graduation from a recognised university with atleast 45% aggregate marks.

For SC/ST Category Candidates: Such aspirants should possess a graduation/post-graduation from a recognised university with atleast 40% aggregate marks.

For CW Category Candidates: Candidates who fall under widows/wards of ex-servicemen/serving personnel (CW) category are given a 5% marks relaxation, that is, they will be eligible to appear for DU LLB entrance exam 2018 if they have secured 45% aggregate marks in their qualifying examination.

For PH Category Candidates: Such aspirants should possess a graduation/post-graduation with atleast 45% aggregate marks. Informing the same the official website of DU states: “Relaxation of up to 5% marks in the minimum eligibility prescribed for general candidates will be allowed to the candidates belonging to physically handicapped (PH) category on the recommendations of the Medical Board as per the prescribed procedure”



DU LLB Entrance Exam 2018 Process

Step 1: Fill DU LLB Entrance Exam Application Form

Candidates need to register online in order to fill DU LLB application form. Details that aspirants need to fill their personal and educational details in their DU LLB entrance exam 2018 application form. Candidates need to note that their application process for this law entrance exam would not be complete unless and until they pay their complete DU LLB application fee.

Step 2: Download DU LLB Admit Card

Aspirants can download their admit card for DU LLB Entrance Exam 2018 from the official website of the exam. No candidate will be allowed to appear for the exam without their DU LLB admit card. The hall ticket/admit card for DU LLB exam would contain the aspirant’s details as well as their exam centre address and reporting time.

Step 3: Appear for DU LLB Entrance Exam

DU LLB exam is expected to have 175 questions which aspirants need to attempt in 2 hours duration. Candidates need to reach their designated DU LLB entrance exam centre atleast an hour before the commencement of the exam.

Step 4: Check DU LLB Entrance Exam Result

The result for DU LLB exam is declared on the official website of Delhi University. Candidates can check their DU LLB entrance exam 2018 result by filling in their username and password on DU’s official website. A point to note here is that DU LLB result will only be declared in the online mode and no communication will be sent to any candidate in the offline mode.

Step 5: Appear for DU LLB Counselling

Candidates who make it to the merit list of the entrance test 2018 further need to appear for DU LLB entrance exam counselling process in-person. Before the counselling, each candidate has to fill – Law Centre Option-Cum-Undertaking form.

In DU LLB counselling round documents submitted by shortlisted candidates are verified. Once, this verification process is successfully completed candidates are offered a seat in LLB course offered at Delhi University. Documents that aspirants need to carry at the time of DU LLB counselling are as mentioned below:

  1.        Admission Ticket of LLB Entrance Test 2018
  2.        Age Certificate (High School/Matriculation)
  3.        Character Certificate (not older than six months on the date of admission)
  4.        Degree Certificate (Provisional Certificate if applicable) of qualifying Degree examination
  5.        Mark-sheet(s) of the qualifying Degree examination
  6.        Scheduled Caste/Tribe/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PH/CW certificate
  7.        Eight passport size photographs

DU LLB Entrance Exam Counselling 2018

University of Delhi commences DU LLB counselling in offline mode usually from third week of July 18. DU LLB entrance exam is conducted in the first week of July each year. Candidates who make it to the merit list for Delhi University LLB entrance exam need to take part in the counselling process as per the date and time allotted to them.

Aspirants need to go through DU LLB counselling schedule as mentioned by Delhi University for LLB course admissions 2018. DU LLB entrance exam counselling process is conducted across centres set up for this purpose at Delhi University colleges. The counselling process for DU LLB admissions is conducted on the basis of merit list released for the exam. As part of the counselling process for Delhi University law entrance exam candidates need to take part in seat allocation process, undergo verification of documents and submit the admission fee.

DU LLB Entrance Exam Counselling Process

DU counselling process for LLB admissions is conducted in the offline mode but in order to take part in the counselling, candidates need to register for the same online. Thus, in order to take part in DU LLB counselling process aspirants need to first of all register on the official portal of the LLB (3 years) course. The steps to follow to register successfully for the counselling round are as mentioned below:

Step 3: Enter Login ID and password

Step 4: Fill details like qualifying status, rank, score, exam details, preferred college for admission etc.

Step 5: Click on submit button

University of Delhi conducts category-wise counselling for LLB course admissions. On the counselling day candidates need to report to their allotted counselling centre with original documents as well as photocopies. On the day of counselling the documents submitted by candidates are verified and it is determined whether seats are available for admission in the DU college selected by the candidate for LLB admission. As soon as DU LLB seat allotment process is over, candidates need to pay the admission fee for the law course.
